Overview
The objective of the Summit was to allow senior market participants, legislators and regulators from around the world to focus collectively on solutions to fundamental issues associated with the theme “What does good regulation look like?”. We explored this theme from a broad range of sector and geographical perspectives.
The event was an excellent opportunity for discussion, planning policy input and networking at a senior level. It was an important part of the ICFR’s wider mission to bring clarity and a non-partisan perspective to the regulation of global markets. The Summit included many opportunities for participation in the working groups and interaction with the speakers and panellists.
As with all ICFR events we attracted a very high calibre of speakers, session chairs and panellists to lead our debate. The format of the Summit included a mixture of keynote speeches, panels and work groups and we aimed to make the whole event as interactive as possible.
We believe the Summit was an eventful, stimulating and valuable experience that not only enriched the debate surrounding international financial regulation, but also brought us closer to conclusions on the best way forward towards “good regulation”. The Summit concluded with the development of the ICFR’s open letter to the G20 leadership in advance of their summit on 3 – 4 November 2011 in Cannes, France.
