Deadline for European Commission (EC) consultation papers on short selling and derivative markets. One focuses on options to increase control over elements of short selling, for instance, reporting of positions and increased supervisory powers, and the other looks at specific areas in the derivatives markets. These areas are: clearing and risk mitigation of OTC derivatives, requirements for central counterparties, interoperability and reporting obligations. The deadline for response to both papers is 10 July 2010.
